School Resource Officer Joseph DeLuca

Officer Joe Deluca attended Ferris State University and graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in criminal justice.  In December of 1989, Officer Deluca was hired at the Imlay City Police Department as a patrol officer.

In 1995, Officer Deluca accepted the School Resource Officer position with the Imlay School district. Officer Deluca began teaching the D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education)  program and  later implemented the T.E.A.M (Teaching Education and Mentoring) program which he currently teaches in grades 2nd, 5th  and 7th  grades.

In 2004, the Imlay City Board of Education for the “Friend of Youth” award in which he was honored at the annual track and field Thumb Meet of Champions selected Officer Deluca.

Officer Deluca  has always believed our youth need positive alternative activities. Officer Deluca used this philosophy to join several individuals (which included  his wife Margaret and community member Scott Stone) in creating the Imlay City Junior Spartans Football/Cheer program. Officer Deluca further has coached youth football and currently AYSO Soccer.

Officer Deluca spends much of his off duty time involved in supporting his children's activities (club soccer, AYSO soccer, gymnastics and dance) and volunteering/fundraising for Lapeer Co. non-profit charities.
