Police Chief

 

John Stano

John Stano became the Imlay City Chief of Police in March of 2008.  He has over thirty (30) years of police experience.  He started his career in law enforcement in 1982 with the Warren Police Department, where he worked as a patrol officer, training officer, detective, sergeant, SWAT Team leader and lieutenant.  As a lieutenant he was assigned as the commander of the Internal Affairs Division, Executive Lieutenant of the Patrol Bureau and retired as the Executive Lieutenant of the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

Chief Stano has a Bachelor’s degree in Public Safety and Security Management.  He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico Virginia (227th Session).

Chief Stano is a member of the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police, International Association of Chiefs of Police, a Trustee of the Lapeer County Chiefs of Police Association, a member of the 911 Authority Board, Lapeer County Technology Committee, and a member of the Law Enforcement Action Forum.

The Imlay City Police Department no longer process handgun purchase permits.  You are advised to go to the Lapeer Count Sheriff's Department located at 3231 John Conley Drive, Lapeer Michigan 48446 (810.664.1801).
