Brett D. Selby
I am honored to be a part of the Imlay City Police Department and blessed with the opportunity to continue to serve in law enforcement after a 25-year career with The Southgate Police Department, where I retired as Chief of Police. I graduated from the Wayne County Regional Police Academy in August 1993 and never stopped seeking ways to make myself a more well-rounded police officer and leader. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Central Michigan University in Economics and a Masters in Public Safety and Emergency Management from Eastern Michigan University. I continued my education and graduated from Eastern Michigan University’s Police Staff and Command School in 2016. I graduated from The Michigan police Executive Development School, sponsored by the FBI Detroit Office, and graduated from the FBI National Academy, Class #274 in Quantico Virginia in 2018. I also have an undergraduate certificate in Criminal Justice Education from The University of Virginia. All of the education in the world will not help if you are not willing to use it. I have been fortunate enough to give back with this opportunity to serve the residents with experience, education, and a commitment to equality and transparency.

Sean Leathers
Hello, my name is Sean Leathers. I have worked in law enforcement since 2013. I currently hold the rank of Sergeant with our department. Before coming to Imlay City, I worked in several different police departments in the area. I have an associate's degree in Criminal Justice from Mott Community College and my training and education are ongoing. I am a recent graduate of MPEDS, Michigan Police Executive Development School out of the FBI office in Detroit which is a police executive leadership development school. I have also Graduated from Northwestern University’s Center for Police Personnel with a certificate in Supervision of Police Personnel. Some of my certifications include range master, firearms instructor, Taser instructor, and I am the Field Training Officer Supervisor. In my current role, I share my responsibilities as both an administrative Sergeant and as a road sergeant. I have high regard for this community and its people and I look forward to completing the departmental mission of protecting life and property while partnering with the community as we all move forward.

Michael Scigel
Hello, I’m Officer Mike Scigel. I joined the Imlay City Police Department in 2017. I grew up in Mayville and graduated from Mayville High School in 2001. After high school, I was offered a full scholarship to play baseball for Mott Community College. I graduated in 2004 with an Associate in Applied Science, Criminal Justice. After graduating from college, I attended the Flint Regional Police Academy and completed my academy training in June 2005. Upon completion of the police academy, I accepted a full-time position with the Mayville Police Department. During the same time period, I also worked part-time for the Vassar Police Department. In 2006, I accepted a full-time police officer position at the Dryden Township Police while also working as a part-time police officer for the Metamora Township Police Department. Currently, I am a Veteran Officer with the City of Imlay City and I have expertise in Motor Carrier Enforcement.

Jeffrey Kronz
Hi. My name is Jeff Kronz. I started my law enforcement career in 1997 as one of the Imlay City Police Auxiliary Officers. I found that I enjoyed helping people and liked the comradery among police department employees. In 1998, I became a 911 Police and Fire dispatcher in Oakland County. I graduated from the Macomb Police Academy in 2001. I received extensive police experience in Oakland County but always wanted to return to Imlay City. I was fortunate to return as a full-time police officer in 2006. Throughout the years, police work has been challenging but always fulfilling.

Ryan Young
Hi, I'm Officer Ryan Young. I began my law enforcement career with the Hamtramck Police Department in 2014 where I served as a Patrol Officer. In 2017, I joined the St. Clair Police Department where I served in various roles including Pistol Instructor, Rifle Instructor, Detective, LEIN, and LASO Officer. In 2022, I joined the Imlay City Police Department, I am currently a Firearms Instructor and Detective. I have an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Macomb Community College and plan on continuing my education and training.
